Welcome to the homepage of the Aberdeen University Taekwon-Do Club. Taekwon-Do is a Korean martial art, famous for its kicking and jumping techniques, but you will also learn blocking, punching and sparring. We teach ITF Taekwon-Do. Our classes are designed to accommodate beginners and advanced students alike. Feel free to join one of our training sessions. There are always a few beginners in class, so you won't stand out. Your first two weeks of training are for free, so you have a chance to decide if you enjoy Taekwon-Do.
On this page you can find information about our club, about what we do, may it be social events or Taekwon-Do related, about our instructors, about our club committee and most of our members. You can also check out photos of many of our previous events.
If you are a beginner in Taekwon-Do, we strongly suggest that you check out the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for an overview on what you might want to know. If you are already a Taekwon-Do practitioner you can have a look at the relevant theory that is required at your current grade.
If you are already a member of our club, make sure to sign up for our Forum, where we discuss all kinds of things, Taekwon-Do related and otherwise.
If you have any questions of comments, feel free to contact any of the committee members.

8/12/09 Grading, Saturday 5th December

On Saturday 5th December, our school attended a grading exam held by Mr Murdoch VI in Peterhead. We showed up in force, as we had 9 students attending. In fact the minibus we were given was not even large enough to carry everyone and thanks go to Mr Scheer, who helped transporting our students to Peterhead.

Students that were grading:

  • Issatay Omarov, promoted to 9th kup
  • Ewa Skorzewska, promoted to 9th kup
  • Andrew Lock, promoted to 9th kup with an A level pass
  • Nicky Hunter, promoted to 8th kup
  • Richard Midgley, promoted to 8th kup
  • Michael Schlafli, promoted to 6th kup with an A level pass
  • Iris Krammer, promoted to 2nd kup
  • Hallur Simonsen, pregraded for 1st kup
  • Gordon Pfeffers, pregraded for Blackbelt

Well done everyone, especially our new batch of beginners (10th kups & 9th kups). The Blackbelts present on the day were well impressed.

Special praises go to Andrew Lock and Michael Schlafli who both won a grading award.

I uploaded all the action from this competition onto one youtube playlist: British UKTA Championships 2009 youtube playlist

Competitors:

  • Hallur Simonson - who got gold in Special Technique and Silver in Destruction
  • Iris Krammer
